My name is Terry Hobgood, as you can see in my blog's handy title. I am starting my 3rd semester in the UNCG LIS program and also my 3rd semester as a Graduate Assistant for the LIS department.
I have lived in North Carolina my whole life. I grew up in Oxford (about 25 miles northeast of Durham) which is most famous for being the setting for the book and movie titled Blood Done Sign My Name about a racially motivated murder of a young black man by three white men and the ensuing riots in downtown orchestrated by young black Vietnam War veterans in 1970. I have also lived in Wilmington and Raleigh before moving to Greensboro a year ago.
I have worked with blogs before in blogger and in wordpress. I usually am not motivated to keep up with the blogs without a specific purpose so having it as a class assignment will be a useful motivator.
My previous academic experience is Film Studies. So I have a good deal of experience with film/tv/broadcasting technologies from class assignments and some practical experience in those fields working on small independent films and for a local TV station in Wilmington.
I have some knowledge of cloud computing, streaming video, RSS, HTML, wikis, twitter, facebook, blogs, and other social media. But I look forward to learning more about those and other things in this class.
